Alan Brightmore is a self taught automotive and aviation artist specialising in
monochrome pencil drawings, his work is often mistaken for black and white
photographs such is the incredible attention to detail paid to both subject and
background.
Born in 1974 in Stockport near Manchester England, Alan developed a natural
artistic ability and a love of drawing from a very early age. His many
school-book doodles and sketches gradually became bigger, more detailed works
of art using mediums such as paint, chalk, coloured pencil and regular graphite
pencil . Despite leaving Secondary school education aged 15 with a grade A in
art graphics and photography, Alan chose to pursue a career in the aviation
industry and as a result no longer found time to draw.
It wasn't until a number of years later and after a chance conversation about
automotive art that Alan decided to put pencil to paper once again. It is this
later work which reflects Alan's other love, that of America - California in
particular and it's cars. From classic 60s Mustangs and Camaro's to beat up old
Volkswagens, his drawings capture the whole 'California cool' look and feel
with amazing accuracy and superb eye for detail.
Today, Alan is regularly commissioned to create original works for automotive
and aviation enthusiasts alike and also attends many auto trade shows and
events around the UK selling framed prints all of which are available for
purchase on this website.
